Head of Strategy and Development

I graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a diploma in Business Studies in 1989 and moved to London to start my working life as a wine merchant for Bibendum Fine Wine. After a short but enjoyable time, I moved to the City the following year to start my financial career at James Capel and Co (latterly HSBC). I worked there for 12 years, managing private client portfolios, personal pension plans, trusts and charities, becoming a Director. In 2002, I joined Rathbones as a Director, initially in the West End, before transferring to Edinburgh in 2007 to develop its presence in Scotland. In 2014 I joined Psigma Investment Management to found its Edinburgh office, and achieved a top five position in the Citywire Regional Stars award for Scotland and Northern Ireland in 2019. Later in the same year I helped merge the business with Punter Southall Financial Planning to create Punter Southall Wealth. In 2022, I joined Adam and Company as part of the acquisition of Punter Southall Wealth by Canaccord Genuity and have been appointed to their leadership team as Head of Strategy and Development. I am a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

Location: Edinburgh

A bit about me:

I live in the Scottish Borders with my wife and three children and love the countryside. I volunteer for the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and enjoy the odd game of golf, fishing and walking our two Labradors.

What does can-do mean to me:

You could call it an ethos, an approach, or an ideology. We simply call it can-do.

Being both accessible and accountable to my clients as well as being a practical problem solver in what is an increasingly complicated world.
